A Report on the “Design & Dyeing Exhibition” organised at AIFD
The Army Institute of Fashion & Design (AIFD) organised a “Design & Dyeing Exhibition” at its campus at Bangalore. The Exhibition was organised on 24th March 05, in association with “Weaver’s Service Centre” which is under Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
Purpose of the Exhibition:
The first semester of Fashion Technology Program has a module to study the “Design & Dyeing” Technique as well as the inspiration to develop Designs. A short term program was also organised on “Embroidery & Surface Ornamentation” and 16 students received certificates from Coats India,Camlin and AIFD for completing the program successfully which were awarded by the Chairman,AIFD Brig MKG Menon.

The Exhibition was inaugurated by Brig M K G Menon, Cdr K&K Sub-Area & Chairman AIFD on the 24-03-05 at 10.30 AM. The other guest of Honour for the Program included the Dy Director Mr.Dev Barman of Textile Committee, Govt of India, Mr.Kishore Jain, Managing Director of J.K.Fabrics and Mr.Parandamaiah Dy Director of Weaver’s Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India.
The exhibition was open to public from 10.30 AM to 5 PM on 24-03-05.
The exhibits included collection of exquisite Designer Silk Sarees created by Weaver’s service Centre, over 200 designs of Fabrics, 200 paper designs, apart from tie and dye & fabric paint designs.
The exhibition also showcased two halls consisting of Designs developed by the AIFD students on tie & Dye technique, Batik, Fabric painting and embroidery which included Home furnishings, Dress Materials and Sarees.
The exhibition was attended by over 200 people including Officers/JCOs/ OR’s along with their families from MEG, ASC &C,CMP Centre, 515 Base Workshop, Sub Area and students & staff of AIHM&CT. The students and faculty of Garden City College and IIFT also visited the exhibition.
